No, really, I haven't come up with a title for it yet. I have the title in mind for the second book(which I haven't even started). So this is the summary. Tell me what you guys think. All comments, critique, and constructive criticism are appreciated ;D
~ Summary ~
After moving to the rural town of Calico Rock, Mariah Kestrel expects nothign more than a boring life. Then she meets Skye, a young man with a sketchy past, and Kivahri, a drop-dead gorgeous stallion, both of which turn the world as she knows it utterly upside down. Between mind games and dream appearances, Mariah questions herself, and above all, her sanity.

Haha, good point, okay, here's the first chapter
~ Chapter 1 ~
Ever have one of those dreams where it repeats itself, and seems to be on perpetual repeat? Yeah, that’s my good nights’ sleep going down the drain. It’s always the same repetitive thing. Some stupid meadow, some lightning flash, or some random shady character on a hill. Creepy right? The most recent occurring dream was last night. The night before I would leave this town I call home forever. Joy… I live in the city. Chicago, to be exact. It may be one of the crime-slash-rape-slash-murder capitols of the country - if not the world - but I call it home. My mother and father both work in a law firm. According to them, it’s a boring job. And this transfer to Arkansas is the pinnacle of excitement in our lives. Woohoo? Honestly, I don’t know whether to cheer, or run away screaming. Anyway, today is the day we finally ship out. So here I am, sitting on the windowsill of my now emptied room, staring outside, at the blank walls, or into space in general. “Mariah! Time to go!” my mom calls from the foyer below. “Coming!” I shout back, though I don’t move. My eyes are locked on the street below, and the high rises in the distance. I would miss this place. “Hurry up, Mariah! Train’s leavin’!” dad yells at me in a completely fake southern accent from, you guessed it, the ever amazingly empty foyer. Oh, I almost forgot. My name’s Mariah Kestrel. My friends call me ‘Kick-Ass-Kestrel’. And I hate it. Oh well, I guess moving is good for one thing – a fresh start. Regardless, moving is a pain. I’m going from top of the food chain right back to eating dirt and sawdust. New state, new town, new community, new school, new people, new friends. Everything is about to change. Yippee.
So without further protest, I proceeded to skulk and mumble my way incoherently down the stairs, across the foyer, and out the door. To me, it seemed like that small interval of time was less than a minute. To my parents, it was over five. Jumping in the car, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at my parent’s excitement as they burst out laughing at the obvious lack of mine. Then I realized just how long this road trip was going to be. So I figured I’d catch up on some much needed rest.
---------------------------------------------
When I woke up, we were somewhere in southern Illinois, and it seemed to be around noon. Or so said the über inaccurate clock positioned on the car’s creepy, ancient, wooden dashboard. I looked out the semi-foggy window to see the sun about to set. There’s no way in hell it was noon. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw something white go flashing by. Focusing on it, I noticed a dark, random shape on a hill. Wait a minute… Dark random shape. Does that sound familiar or what? That couldn’t be just a coincidence. All of a sudden I got this massive headache. Like, shoot-yourself-painful headache. Just then I saw more white flashes and focused back on the dark shape on the hill. Some random flash struck behind it. Then I realized what it really was. A horse. A white stallion. “Everybody look!” I shouted at the top of my lungs and everyone jumped. “Over there! There’s a white horse up on that hill!” I pointed to where he was. In just a split second, another flash illuminated his ghostly body, and revealed an intricate swirling tattoo on his right shoulder. Then I blinked and he was gone. “Where honey? I don’t see a horse, more or less a white one.” my mom finally answered back. Figures. The second they decide to look, that magnificent yet mysteriously marked stallion disappears into thin air. Leaving me looking completely insane. Perfect. Stupid lightning-like flashes. Stupid hill. Stupid white stallion with a stupid tattoo. Stupid family. Stupid trip. Stupid Arkansas, And stupid me.

Mkay, here comes
~ CHAPTER 2 ~ !!!
Another dream. “Mariah” a voice called to me. I’d never heard it before in my life until now. Yet it seemed so familiar. “Mariah” He whispered my name. He? Okay, now this was starting to get weird. “I’m waiting for you.” His voice faded into the imperceptible distance. “Who are you?” I questioned. The blackness surrounding me was still and quiet. “Who are you?” I repeated, bellowing into the silent and darkening shadows. There was no reply. Not even an echo. Just then my head began to spin as a white flash blurred before my eyes, sending shivers down my spine. I heard harsh breathing, the beating of drums and a choir faintly chanting something in a foreign language. It all sounded eerily familiar. My instincts told me to turn around and face what ever was behind me. I turned and nearly stumbled backwards as I stared into a pair of beady black eyes. The creature stared straight back at me, its penetrating gaze burning a hole through my face. It moved slightly, turning its head and shifting its weight on its seemingly invisible feet. As it moved back to its original position, its gaze wandered to my left, my right, above me, and to the floor. The second it remade eye-contact with me, a surge of adrenaline shot down my spine. It snorted once. Twice. Three times, and seemed to be stifling a laugh rather than snorting. As it choked out another snorty laugh, its eyes suddenly turned a warm amber. I was calmed, and began to relax. Until it stepped out of the shadows. Then I saw what it truly was. A horse. Oh great. He nickered, the kindness in his eyes intensified, and I was filled with warm, fuzzy feelings. He stepped forward even more, closing the short, two-foot distance between us. Amazingly, I wasn’t the slightest bit afraid. He moved even closer, pressing his solid white chest against me. He looked down at me, and with a whinny, stretched his neck over my shoulder. With his cheek to the back of my head, he breathed calmly, deeply and gently. His warm breath tickled the tiny hairs on the back of my neck, sending intense shivers down the entire length of my spine and body. Who was he, and why did I feel such a connection to him? He shifted his weight as I hugged his massive, muscular, bleach-white neck. That’s when I saw it. A swirling design on his shoulder. Impossible. It was the same stallion I had seen this afternoon on that hill. What the hell was he doing> Following me? What a creep I gasped and shook, and he most definitely noticed. Then he spoke. Yes, spoke. “So you recognize me?” He draped his jet black mane over my shoulders and neck. Holy cow! Er…horse! He talked! The weird white stallion with the even weirder swirly tattoo actually talked. “I apologize. Did I frighten you?” he whispered to me. “Kind of.” I mustered up the courage and nerve to answer this strange creature. “It’s a yes or no question, Mariah…” he trailed off, moving away. “Okay, fine then. You scared me just a bit. And since we’re playing Q-and-A -” “You’re seriously going to ask who I am?” he cut me off, and looked at me, the tiny muscle above one of his eyes raised. Wow. He was right on target. Then I somehow started spacing out, and wondering if he could read my mind. “No, I cannot read your mind…” he laughed, tossing his head and pawing the ground. “So were you going to ask anything of that nature about me?” “No, I was actually going to ask if you’re stalking me or something.” “Pardon?” he replied, looking far too amused by the comment I made. “You heard me.” I said smugly. He smiled, giving himself an almost human look. He gazed deep into my eyes, making me feel so warm, comfortable, and oddly enough, loved. He held his gaze steadily. Then his ears flicked forward, and his smile faded. Something had caught his attention. And it was making him antsy. His eyes narrowed as he looked over my head and glared into the blackness in front of us. He moved closer, circling me. Then he stopped his pacing, his massive body surrounding me. He flexed his neck and shoulders and moved even closer. “What is it?” I asked, my voice beginning to shake. I felt his dark mane touch the back of my neck, his breath caress my hand, and the side of his tail brush my leg as he swung it back and forth. Obviously he was agitated. But why? I felt his entire body shudder around me. It was then that I was truly afraid. “Stay close.” he whispered soothingly, and I sank into his hide. At that instant, a bloodcurdling howl broke out from somewhere in front of us. He tightened around me, emanating an aura of strength, protection, and above all, power. My stallion snarled at the yowling creature, and glared into the darkness. The shadows growled in response

About time I posted another chapter, lol
~ Chapter 3 ~
The stallion straightened up and spoke. “I am Kivahri. Lord of the Sovereign Winds Herd, and Emperor of Paradise Highlands” he shouted into the misty blackness. The shadows snarled and growled even louder at him. “I command you to leave us, demons!” The tension in the air rose. “Give us the girl.” Uh oh. “Leave us!” he bellowed, paced, and then stood beside me. I blinked, and a form stepped out from the darkness. The creature stared at me, eyes intent and focused on what it wanted. Unfortunately, that just happened to be me. The wolf continued looking at me, his blue eyes fixed on nothing but me. The black beast shifted his gaze to Kivahri, and addressed him. “You know the rules. And yet you still protect her?” “You would do the same for your soul mate as well.” He paused and lifted his mighty head, raising an eyebrow. “Am I wrong, Kenai?” “Nope.” The wolf smiled at him. “But answer me this,” he stopped briefly “have humans not destroyed both our families and homes?” the wolf chuckled. “It seems silly to me to defend what you know will be the end of you.” I looked at Kivahri, having no idea what was going on. He didn’t answer, and the wolf sat down. The stallion relaxed and sighed. We all stood there in complete silence for a moment or two. Then another wolf emerged from the shadows. The black wolf immediately stood up, and Kivahri flattened his ears. “Enough of this. Kill them!” the white wolf yelled at the black wolf beside her. He looked up at us with a pained look in his ocean blue eyes. “You cannot disobey my orders.” She growled at him. In the blink of an eye, she was on top of him, the back of his neck clenched tightly between her jaws. “Kill them!” she shouted again, releasing her hold on the black wolf’s scruff. “No!” my stallion screamed as he jumped over me to take on the wolves lunging out of the shadows. He reared up, his eyes blazing crimson with fear and rage. His black mane and tail billowed in the sudden wind whipping around us. His tattoo glowed a blinding and fierce sapphire, making his anger known to the world. “End this” the white one said with a smirk and turned away, leaving me and Kivahri to deal with the rest of her pack. The black wolf sat at the edge of the shadows. A single tear dropped from his cheek as he watched. Then he bowed his head and turned away from us, not wanting to witness what I can only speculate was our deaths “Mariah, run!” Kivahri bellowed at me. “No, I won’t leave you, Kiva” I said back to him, shaking. Kiva. That was my nickname for him, yet it felt as if I had known it all along. “Just do as I say!” he yelled at me this time, sounding more annoyed than protective. Stallions… “Mariah, just go!” he literally screamed at me. Sheesh. He only had to tell me twice. A little niceness wouldn’t hurt his case either. I bolted into the shadows. “Mariah!” he cried out from behind me. “Mariah...” the echoes called. Sure. Now there were echoes.
-----------------------------------------
I woke with a start to find my mom stirring me from my dream turned nightmare. “We’re about halfway there, hon. We’re in St. Louis right now. It’s breakfast time, so just get up already.” It was still dark out. Breakfast my ass. “What time is it?” I undid my seatbelt, jumped out of the car and rubbed at my eyes sleepily. “It’s around four-thirty.” Oh. So it technically was breakfast. “So did see any white horses lately?” my mom poked fun at me. “Very funny. No, but I had a dream about him.” “Ooh, what happened?” “Like I’d tell you. You’ll keep annoying me about it, anyway.” She laughed and we strode into the restaurant. My dad and little siblings (Kayla and Joey) were sitting at a large booth, waiting for us. Kayla is twelve and Joey is nine. I keep on forgetting to mention that I’m almost seventeen. “So how was your nap?” my dad asked as Joey and Kayla snarfed down their stacks of pancakes. “Uh, Mariah. Earth to Mariah.” He repeated, poking my arm with the end of his fork. “Sorry, what?” I jumped as he punched me on the shoulder. “I asked how your nap was.” he said, looking slightly amused. “Oh sorry, I was spacing out.” No, actually I wasn’t. I was thinking about that weird dream, and my encounter with Kivahri.
Half an hour later, we hopped back into the car and drove off.
