Prologe
My breath eased in and out of my mouth as I stood there, staring over the edge of the cliff in triumph. I grinned at myself, turning my head upward toward the dull sun. My breath came out in white puffs, the freezing temprature didn’t help on what I was about to do. I had nothing to live for. Nothing to look foreward to. I knew what I was doing. I knew I would only have seconds to live. The muscles in my legs tenced in anticipation. I leaned down, and jumped.
Chapter 1
I hit the freezing water like a rock. I gasped for breath, my lungs burning. I tried to swim for shore, my legs beginning to feel numb. I felt strong arms grasp my waist, and pull me backwards. I realized I had been swimming the wrong way. I fell limp as he pulled me toward shore. I breathed in a sigh of relief as I fell back onto land.
“What did you do that for?” A voice asked, deep, but not too.
“I-I-I had, — have — nothing to live for.” I replied, my voice strangly high. I shivered and at once a coat was placed over me. I turned to look at him.
He was dressed in Jeans, and a T-shirt. Both were soaking wet. I smiled at him. His eyes were a bright green, his brown hair was shaggy.
“Well, you do now. I’m Cj.” He held out a shaky hand, obviously because he was cold. I took it lightly, feeling his cold skin.
“Alyss.” I replied, taking my hand back.
“You might take a moment to…err…look at yourself.” He helped me up and walked me over to the crystal blue water. I gasped. My Strawberry blonde hair was soaking wet, and now looked black. My face was pale, and my eyes were a cloudy grey. I looked at him and forced a laugh.
“So I guess I’m not a pretty sight, am I.” My voice was quiet. He shrugged, smiling.
“Doesn’t matter to me. Come on, lets get you to a hospital.”
“NO!” I jumped foreward and grabbed his arm. “NOT HERE IN TOWN!” I shouted.
“Why?” His face clouded in confusion. I studdered.
“B-b-because my mom works there.” I confessed, yanking my arm from him and walking back to my car. He, of course, followed.
My cell was ruined, and my clothes were wet. I shook my head sadly as Cj slid into my passenger seat. He was quiet, finally, and I started the car. I pressed the pedal and went foreward in a steady motion. The newly-painted patterns on the road flew by. All of a sudden I felt a searing pain in my forehead, than on my arms and neck. I swerved off the road, slamming into a tree.
Chapter 2
I coughed, smoke in my eyes. I pushed back into my seatbelt, glad I had clipped it. I looked over at Cj, who’s face was curled up in pain. His eyes were shut tight, his teeth gritted. I reached over and touched his arm tentivly. The searing pain returned to my neck, forehead, and arms.
“Don’t touch me.” His voice was strained. “I have to get out of here.” He reached out his pale hand to the door, opening it. He jumped out and ran. I closed my eyes as the pain eased away. I got out of the car when the flashing lights came.
“Ma’me, are you alri-” The man stopped, then yelled something.
“What?” I looked at my arms, which now had swirly patterns on them. Blue, purple, and black. I gasped. The man ran, everyone else following. I sat back down in my car as the airbag collapsed back into the steeringwheel. I sighed and cried into my hands.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got out of the car Jason, my brother, by my side. My brother had blue eyes, like mine usually were, and white skin. He had brown hair, and was tall and skinny. He held his arm in my skinny one, and led me inside. I pulled away as soon as we got into the house, but lost my footing. I was mere inches from the floor when Jason caught me, helping me upstairs to my room.
I closed my eyes, and stepped in front of the mirror. I opened them, and gasped in shock. My hair was still Strawberry blonde, but my usually tan skin was now pale white. Jason’s touch was burning hot, when it shouldn’t have been. My face and forehead was rimmed in beautiful swirls of purple, blue and black. My neck had been covered in what looked like curly writing of some sort. My arms had the same swirls as my face, but more elegent.
Deep in the pit of my gut, something stirred. Had Cj DONE this to me? I took in a staggery breath, raching out to the mirrior to see if it was really me. Jason took a step back.
“We have to get you to Alexis’s.” His voice seemed scared. At 19, he was much more mature than me. Since im only 16, he was my legal guardian. Mom, well, left us to fend for ourselves.
The car was started. I slipped quietly into the shot gun [passenger front] and put up my hood, hiding my…markings as best I could. Jason was beside me, backing out of the driveway. My head was pounding, almost as fast as my heart. What would happen to me?
Chapter 3
Lets see. My Grandma was more shocked than either me or Jason thought. Okay, so where am I going to go? Its call the House of Darkness. Yeah, all those stupid myths are fake. Vampyres adore Light. It is sacred. So what? Humans can be idiots.
That was creepy. I’ve been a Vampyre all of a half hour and I’m already thinking like a Vampyre. Oh my gosh. Back to subject. Alexis has the same markings as me. Well, almost. According to her, normal Vampyres only have Blue and Black markings. Not Purple. Okay, so I’m wierd. Whats with the fuss? She told me I had to get to the House of Darkness asap, otherwise I’ll…err….die. So, Here I am, on a plane to Missouri, to the House of Darkness.
To tell you the truth, I am scared enough to pee myself. I mean, not literally, but you know, I COULD. Jason is acting like its all normal. Like Im not some kind of monster. Why wasn’t I drinking his blood? Why wasn’t I killing people! Is this a myth too? Boy, sometimes I think I watch too many horror movies. So, you know, I’m half out of my mind right now. Simple enough, right? Wrong.

warning….time skip____________________________
This place is HUGE. Its like history all over again. Right in front of me, is a Castle as tall as the sky. There are towers, that I’m assuming are dorms, every few meters. There were posters on the wall, like new clubs, when dances were, it was like high school. I groaned. I’d have to live through it all over again? This gave me a question. Do we live forever? Like, do we have Immortality? Or was it just a regular lifetime? It was hard for me to grasp how many Mincres. there are around here. Wait, back up, did I tell you what Mincres were? Oh. They are newborn vampyres. …….which would be me. Of course I was the new girl. I could feel eyes baring into my back. I gasped again. I looked up at the creature right in front of me. She was a mijestic lady, her long blonde curls along her shoulders. Her green eyes pierced into mine.
“Hello…” She bent down to look at my neck. She smiled pleasently. “Nickerie.” My eyes widneded. “Its our anctient language. Your vampyre name is printed on your neck.” She smiled again, this time forced. “Hello Mikay.” Her gaze was on Alexis now.
“Hello, Mickera” My grandmother said, no longer smiling. I tenced, stepping away from them both.
“Ashton, please escort Nickerie — Alyss — to her dorm please.” I gasped as the most beautiful boy stepped out of the shadows.
“Yes, Miss Mickera,”
“Are you kidding me?” I mumbled. He smiled and acted like he didn’t hear me, taking my wrist and leading me up stairs.
Chapter 4
Connor
I don’t know how or why I did it. It was like all of a sudden. I mean, yeah I saved a girl from drowing. [which was her own fault btw] So what? Yeah, she was hot and all, but she WAS also human. But when we crashed, the pain shot through me. She looked over at me, her face pain stricken. But I looked again, barely, and saw her marks forming. I was like “what the?” and gritted my teeth. I mumbled something like “I have to get out of here” and opened the door, getting out and running.
I went back to the House of Darkness, sure she would have arrived already. Just as I thought. I wiped my hands on my pants as Ashton came out of the shadows. I glared, blinking. I rolled my eyes as he took her wrist and led her upstairs.
“Connor.” Mickera’s voice rang out over the yard, and I flinched. “Come out.” I jogged over to her, putting an innocent look on my face.
“Yes?” I look up at her, reminded once again of my mother, who was as beautiful as this lady before me.
“Did you or did you not mark Nickerie.” She looked at me, her gaze emotionless. I gulped.
“I did. But I don’t know how I did it.” I replied, glancing at Mikay.
“Understood. You are to spend as much time with her as you can. You have…sort of imprinted her. Do you understand, Connor?” She took my head in her hands. “If you hurt her, she will be scarred forever. For eternity. You will never again see her as she is.” I nodded and lifted my hand to my face, wiping the cream off my swirling marks.
She nodded and turned away, with a farewell mark at Mikay, she walked off, as mijestic as her looks. Mikay turned to me, her face angered, yet full of love.
“How dare you mark my baby.” She smiled, her voice gentle. “But I’m glad it was you. I knew your mother.” She looked down at me. “If you ever need anything, Saphwego, than just call.” I hated it when someone used my Vampyre name, but something in this lady’s voice told me that she ment what she said, and that she wouldn’t break her promise. I just hoped that I could keep my untold promise to Alyss.
Chapter 5
Alyss
I was led upstairs to a long, never ending Hallway.
“You will be rooming with Ashley, another newborn. Beware, she is a bit girly.” He handed me a key. Obviously, he had keys to all the rooms.
I didn’t expect what I saw when I opened the door.
“Holy crap.” I mumbled.
Half the room was hot pink, — every single inch — and the other half was, well, black. I grinned at Ashton. “Just my style. I’ll take if from here.” I waved, and shut the door in his face. I sighed and layed on the bed, my bed, and sighed. Only moments later there was a squel outside, and the unlocking on my door. I sat up, waiting for this girly Ashley to step in.
Instead, a short girl with brown curly hair and bright pink eyes — im assuming they were contacts — and smiled at me.
“Yay!” She jumped on her bed. “Connor's girl is finally here!" THAT made me flinch.
“Connor’s girl?” I asked, looking at her.
“Yeah! His mate!” She giggled. “One thing. Tell me you brought some room decor…” I nodded and she pointed to my 4 bags. “In there?”
I got up off the bed, and took the comforter on the bed now, and put it in the bottom of my closet and unzipped my bag. I pulled out my electric blue comforter from it, laying it out on the bed. Ashley clapped playfully. I pulled out my horse posters and tacked them to the walls. I jumped on my bed and felt better.
“Better. Im Alyss.” I smiled.
“Ashley.” She replied. “So you are Connor’s imprint....”
Connor’s IMPRINT?!?!?!?! Where did that come from?
Chapter 6
Connor
I took a deep breath. I knocked on the door, closing my eyes. Only seconds later, i heard a creek, and there stood Ashley.
“Uh, Im here for Alyss.” I said, trying to see around her.
“Sure.” She turned around and whispered something inautible. “She’ll be out in a minute. Wait here.” She slammed the door, and I could hear faint giggles. I rolled my eyes and leaned on the wall beside the door. Mere minutes later, the door opened, and there stood the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. Alyssa was in a blue dress, her hair all done up. Her eyes were different than they were earlier, more of a green. Really bright green.
“This isn’t really me.” She mumbled, looking at me. “Ashley insisted.”
I laughed and took her hand, leading her downstairs.
I wasn’t really sure where I was taking her yet, but I had a few ideas in mind. There were many places around the area that we could go to. Luckily, it was the weekend, and there was no major homework I had to get done. My choices were the waterfall, the crystal cave, or the Lucky Cavern. I led her down the walkway, to a bridge.
“Close your eyes.” I stopped her and covered her eyes with my hand. She let out a small laugh and grabbed my other hand. I led her further down, and uncovered her eyes. I front of us was a huge towering waterfall above us, clear as crystal water pooled at the botom. I gasped myself, as if seeing this place for the first time, with real eyes. She tenced beside me, and leaned on my shoulder.
“Brings back memories.” Her eyes teared up, and I regretted bringing her here.
“Im sorry, Alyss, lets leave.” She shook her head, and stared into the water.
“I’m sorry. So sorry.” She mumbled. I looked at her, but her eyes were closed, somehow, I knew she wasn’t talking to me. “No!” Her scream was terrifying. She was screaming into the water, reaching out in pain. I grabbed her waist to keep her from falling. She sobbed into my shoulder, shaking.
